Which side of the line are you on?
A split rating is not arbitrary. The better class generally applies within about 1,000 feet of a recognised hydrant and within five road miles of a staffed station. Beyond the hydrant distance you fall to the second number; beyond five road miles, to the worst.
Two houses on the same road can sit on opposite sides of that boundary and be priced differently for reasons neither owner can see from the street. It is worth knowing which applies to your address before a renewal, because it is one of the few premium factors that has nothing to do with the house itself.
